The Microsoft Exchange services are up and running, however Exchange provisioning tasks fail in POA with the error message 'The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is not running or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is unavailable' like in the example below:
Exception during execution of MPF request: 'Unknown error 0x80131500
[<response><errorContext description="An error occurred while retrieving the requested information. The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is not running or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is unavailable. Facility: Microsoft Exchange Management ID no: c103074d Microsoft Exchange Management
[LDAP path of mailbox:
code="0x80131500" executeSeqNo="1"><errorSource namespace="ExchangeProviderEx"
Most likely there is no connection between WMI and Exchange Information Store.
Recommended solution - restart services on active Exchange back-ends.
1. Restart the 'Windows Management Instrumentation' service, then restart the failed task in POA. If the problem is not solved yet, proceed to the next step.
Important: steps 2-4 affect customer services and may cause services downtime.
2. Restart the 'Microsoft Exchange Information Store' service, then restart the failed task in POA. If problem is not solved yet, proceed to the next step.
3. Restart all Exchange related services, WMI, IIS, then restart the failed task. If problem is not solved yet, proceed to the next step.
4. Restart Exchange server.
Usually, there are more than one Exchange back-end server in a production POA environment. Service ID reference can be used to identify the failed server by a task name.
E.g., the task 'Collect diskspace usage for service #11' failed due to the described issue. A server which service #11 belongs to may be found in POA Provider Control Panel at System Director > Configuration Manager > Services.
